answer should be N.O.T. which is not there

solution has been done taking s=12 m but question mentions 11m

let the time be t

distance travelled by first car =5t

distance travelled by second car=1/2 *1*t2

5t=1/2*t2+11

10t =t2+22

from this the value of t can be calculated

If you solve the quadratic equation t2-10t +11=0 then two values of 't' are 6.73 and 3.26s approx. The first value is true when both of them are traveling in the same direction and the second value is true when the second car moves in a direction opposite to the first so that they meet somewhere in between. In the question the direction in which the second car moves is not mentioned.

First the car with speed 5m/s(in 4th second) overtakes the other and then in 6th second the other car over takes it .. it is so simple as that !!!
