when a current passes through a resistor its temperature increases is it an adiabatic process

It all depends on the system.

If you think that there is no heat radiation from the wire(perfectly insulated wire), it will be an adiabatic process.
But if u are considering heat radiation (which is practically the case for a non insulated wire) then it will not be an adiabatic process.
