Height

A barometer having metallic scale reads height Hθ at temp θ°C.If the scale is callibrated at temp 0°C and α is coeff of linear exp and γ is coeff of cubical exp. then calculate value of correct height.

Increase in height due to expansion must be subtracted from Hθ for correct height. If Ho is the height at 0°C, then,

ΔH = Hoαθ

Thus
correct height= Hθ-ΔH

I have not considered the expansion of the vessel (If there is any)
