the condition we want can be achieved when total internal reflection takes place (phase change of pie)
so

i > i_c

cosec i_c = Î¼_a/Î¼_b

sin i_c = Î¼_b/Î¼_a

angle of incidence > sin^-1(Î¼_b/Î¼_a)

In case of simple reflection, do v hav a fase chage of pie??

i.e. Light fals on water surface, partially it is reflected, partially reflected........

THEN DO V HAVE A PHASE CHANGE OF PIE?
