coz (OM)aâ†’ means (OM)²a(unit vector)[scalar multiplication!!!]

OM=scalar(length)[1]

Well.If two vectors are colliner then we can write so.Suppose a is parallel to b.And a is twice of b.So 2a^â†’=b^â†’
So how come there use of unit vector.I want to ask why a unit vector?
