1i am expctng arnd 600 marks in uptu and 242 in bitsat. i am in eml of jee. eml rank 12k. should i take a drop ? which institute to join after dropping- bansal or resonance or vibrant ?

i think EML is nice . it encourages research in INDIA
out of 2000 seats available 60000 are contesting
so many will go to NITs so atleast there are more opportunities for everybody

1Following one was found in article section of goiit.... hope it is helpful to know what is the "FATE" of eml students...(but the comments there shows no agreement of the "source"...only the originator of this articles knows the real one..or it may b a fake one...)
" EXTENDED MERIT LIST (EML) Apart from the various Merit Lists [i.e., the Common Merit List (CML), the category (SC, ST, OBC) and sub-category (PD) merit Lists, and Preparatory (for SC, ST, and PD) Merit Lists], JEE also prepares Extended Merit Lists (EML) under different categories, by making some relaxation in the aggregate cut-off.
For JEE-2009, the lengths of the Extended Merit Lists are six times the lengths of the corresponding JEE Merit Lists. The Candidates appearing in the EML are not eligible for admission into IITs, IT-BHU, and ISMU, and will not be called for counselling of JEE-2009. The EML is provided to other institutions (see the Table below) for the purpose of admission in these institutions.These Institutions have about two thousand seats in total for various courses offered by them. Candidates declared qualified in the EML, who are desirous of admission to these institutions, must apply to these institutions directly for admission.
For all other details regarding the courses, application procedure, fees, etc., the candidates are advised to contact /visit the respective institutions/websites. There were about 7800[min] ranks given..this means 47000 students are in eml....when only 100 odd seats are there in iist and a few hundreds in the others[2k totally].....only god and iit knows what they are doing As I have mentioned earlier this is going to be an IEML ..INFINITELY EXTENDED MERIT LIST... also note this the diff btw 1st EML and last EML will jus be 15 marks or so

1ya IIT has played a joke this time,one of my friend got in EML who was expecting onle 5 marks less tha me,and one of my friends who did'nt expect anything also got in EML

1i cannot agree more to what skygal has just said. i feel iitjee isnt the same exam that it was 2 yrs ago or even say 1 yr ago. things are changing. the brand of iits is getting diluted. i really dont know what the iitjee comittee wants to achieve from dis amidst all this dilution, by releasing an eml dat contains 6 times the number of students as the main list..i mean this is like an insult.i know ppl expecting 120 as well as 240 clearing into eml..life is so unfair..

only students getting a rank till 10k are in EML apart from CML..
