The reason is Lowering in Freezing point....see we dont have to worry abt the solute..the only thing is that when we add not volatile solute so the freezing point of the solution is lowered...that means at the actual freezing point of the solvent there will be an eqilibrium between
Liquid solution <---> Solid solvent...

Let's have an example to make it more clear

Water freezes at 0C ..suppose u add some salt in water ..it's freezing point will decrease..so at 0 C some of the liquid will start to freeze but not all..so there will be equilibrium b/w solid solvent and liquid solution...
