AIEEE may go ONline from this year!

http://www.indianexpress.com/news/After-CAT--AIEEE-to-go-online/612635

Taking a cue from the Common Admission Test (CAT), the Central Board of School Education (CBSE) is planning to take its All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE) online from next year. However, this would be a much more challenging proposition, as compared to the 2.5 lakh aspirants who appeared for the not-so-successful online CAT last year, AIEEE will have 11 lakh students in over 3,000 exam centres.

The Indian Express has learnt that both the CBSE, which conducts the exam, and the Human Resource Development (HRD) Ministry under which the Board falls are working out finer modalities to take AIEEE online. AIEEE scores determine admissions to the National Institutes of Technology (NIT) besides various under-graduate engineering and architecture courses.

“It is now being mulled whether we should do it as a pilot test next year at some centres or just make a one-time switch to an online exam. While there is a view that we should just make a big switch, others are suggesting a more cautious approach especially since the CAT debacle. We will, anyway, have to switch to an online format considering the sheer number of candidates appearing for the AIEEE each year,” said a highly-placed source. Before taking AIEEE online, the response to the CBSE’s on-demand online Class X Board exam will also be observed, said the sources.

WHAT’S NOT SO GOOD

* IT Infrastructure not developed everywhere
* Low IT awareness
* Online coaching/training infrastructure lacking
* Not cost effective
* Difficult to arrange the tests (Due to factors like the availability of computers, availability of energy support systems and proper and secure places to conduct online tests)

I dont agree...

1) IT infrastructure today is developed everywhere in india. THere will probably be no city in India where the test is conducted but does not have internet
2) IT awareness is not very high but point taken]
3) Exams are not dependent on coaching institutes. the coaching institutes will change their ways very fast
4) Very cost effective. You dont need invigilators, locker rooms, transportation, OMR checking matchines etc
5) because the tests are easier to arrange through computers.. they are cheaper, dont have to have papers sent under extreme security to each center.

DO U THINK IT IS REALLY DEVELOPED EVERYWHERE IN INDIA SO MUCH??????????
WHAT ABOUT THE POPULATION LEVEL???
WHY DID CAT EXAMS FAILED EVEN OF THE LOW % OF CANDIDATES THAN EEE?????
AND WHAT ABOUT HACKS AND COMPUTER VIRUSES ????????

Yes i think so.

COMPUTER viruses are something you dont understand.. so please dont talk about them here, because if you did, you would not have posted it here. You should realize that the most prestigious exams in the world are given online GMAT, GRE, SAT etc... They are due to human mistakes which can be there even on a question paper..

Tell me a simple thing.. even we(TIIT) have been able to develop a testing platfrom (albeit not the best one.. not even close.. where is the computer virus? do you see any virus on target iit or any other online testing platform??? )

SO there is no reason why we should worry about Hacks and comp viruses..

India will have parts which will not be developed even in the next 25 years. so this arguement that every single village in india does not have computer access again to me sounds not so good....
How many centers does AIEEE have? max 5-6 in each state.. How does it matter then? It is not a board exam conducted in every single school fo the country.

HOw is BITS faring? They have been having their exams...

NISHANT SIR , I WAS JUST TRYING TO ELUCIDATE OF WHAT HAPPENED IN THE NEAR PAST WITH CAT ONLINE EXAMS.
SEE THIS LINK SIR :: http://catscore.blogspot.com/2009/12/why-online-cat-exam-failed.html

The failure of CAT was pure human error. It wouldn't be so bad to have AIEEE online.

But the problem is that it could clash with several other entrance exams.

@ Nishant Bro , I am clearly against your opinion..

You wont be able to compare BITSAT and CAT with AIEEE ,which is way beyond in terms of number of candidates ...

About Computer's disadvantages , Nishant bro ,you are talking about coaching centres when there are many many students who cannot even afford 100 Rs. and still clear AIEEE..they may not have even seen computers..When CAT'S pattern change was announced I even saw a film about very poor people preparing for CAT [even at the ages of 30 and 35 !! ]...So wont it be harsh on the poor ones in India..AIEEE will then be a kind of 'reservation' for all those who have money only naa..

You probably didn't get WHAT I'M TRYING TO SAY..:

See , there are many many Engg Exam aspirants who dont even have the slightest knowledge about computers , but as they are hardworking [ and many are brilliant too..] they gain enough knowledge and concepts to easily clear through AIEEE..BUT IF AIEEE IS MADE ONLINE..it would be like a jolt for many just because they dont know how to use even a mouse..

EINSTEINS ARE BORN NOT IN CITIES BUT VILLAGES OF INDIA..

My friend , what you did was very good and right , but every poor whiz kid of India WONT be lucky like your neigbours whom you fortunately helped.

Very very true ,its better to be a spectator than comment about this .

By ' Einstein' , I mean people who have the capacity to change the field in which they focus on..I agree that there will be only and only one Einstein , but many better than even Him are already sweating it out in rural India.

I do clearly think for others to some extend , but even I'm selfish , I would prefer that I [not a genius ] get selected some how , in preference to some poor brainy kid in some village...now that's human nature for you..
