2) Is thoroughness in that topic a pre-requisite for cracking jee???
3) How is it useful in solving integration problems???

62I dont think IIT has given too many problems of reccursion in the past. Nor do i feel that theywill a lot
REmember that telescopic sums that we do is what reccursion is in terms of IITJEE.
That is all
So if you can do those like
1/1.2+1/2.3+...........1/n(n+1)
then you are done with most of the problems.

I know how to do that sum....those type of sums are my favourite in "Sequences and Series".....

My friend (the same one who caused the tussle between us) solved that sum using reccursion........ That's why i asked!!!

I know many people will blame me for inhibiting learning.. But these problems will not be asked in IIT JEE ever
