HCV = Highly Complex Verma

An unexpected question....may be HCV expects this in iit2009:

When Neils Bohr shook hand with Werner Heisenberg, what kind of force they exerted?

(a) Gravitational

(b) Electromagnetic

(c) Nuclear

(d) Weak

I just doubled up in laughter at the sight of this question [9][9][9]

But the answer was even funnier: (b)

[85]...cool na

if they vigourously """shake thier hand""" will create static charges!!!!!!! thus the force betw. thier charged handz ...

But muscular force is not a basic force da and anyway it is not among the options [4]

gravitation pulls the two hands together ??? muscular forces na ???
you've studied bio na ?

Werner is "wern"ing that he'll kill me.....so the "bohr"ing neils Bohr will be the girl

1
greatvishal swami ·

I guess we have to assume one of them to be a girl (a woman, rather) which makes matter easier!!

Electromagnetic force came into play only because gravitational force pulled the hands together.......

Anyway, the question says:

Bohr shook hand

Notice the tense?? The shaking (of the hands, of course [3]) is already over...which means that there is no contact ==> gravitational force is in action again!!

I guess we have to assume one of them to be a girl (a woman, rather) which makes matter easier!!

Also, pls explain the solution.....why is it not (a)??

@philip that is why this is a trivial question

@chemistry
but the question asks about werner hiesenberg and bohr and i think both of them must have been men

have'nt u shaken hand with a girl?! :)

this was one my poorest joke

grav. is weak here the answer will be electromagnetic only, grav is not the answer...

here electromagnetic force is cause of "normal" that we provide in hand shaking.....

we can shake hands (cautiously) even if they r frictionless.

11
Subash ·

thats it! this question is trivial

you can also say that they attract each other due to gravitational force

1
chemistry organic ·

what if their hands are frictionless?

1
skygirl ·

When Neils Bohr shook hand with Werner Heisenberg, what kind of force they exerted...

there is frictional force between their hands..

and frictional force is electromagnetic.

palani ............... ·

any relation with normal forces?????

11
Subash ·

yeah it does the question is not that specific

certainly not appearing in jee09 [55]

11
Anirudh Narayanan ·

but that force still exists???

11
Subash ·

gravitational force is too weak compared to electromagnetic
