appada................

one of d imp oneword ll be d point which u tol......

depletion region consist of immobile ions............

oooooooooooooooooooh

Yes. Got it. electrons are mobile but since the positive/negative kernel atoms are immobile, barrier is formed right?

becomes positive ion.............
naturally if accepts electron it becomes negative ion.......

dat wat happens here too...

the n side donates few electrons n pside accepts few electrons formin +ve n-ve ions near d barrier respectively............

bcoms positive

k.. tell me wat happens when an atom releases an electron??????????????

Pavithra Ramamoorthy ·

a barrier is generally formed rit after 2 semiconductor r joined together..........
say pn junction diode........

Pavithra Ramamoorthy ·

fr dat only i used d word recombinin...... n not neutralise........

11
Anirudh Narayanan ·

if they neutralize, then there will not be any potential difference!

P.S:
How's my logo? That is Aragorn in the Lord of the Rings movie :)

since d barrier formed at d moment they r joined charges beyond it ll remain as it is...

11
Anirudh Narayanan ·

What abt d others?

1
Pavithra Ramamoorthy ·

not all the charges ....... wat u r sayin neutralised is wat i am syin recombines......

only d charges very near to junc ll recombine..........

11
Anirudh Narayanan ·

That is where i'm confused. Won't the charges neutralize?

wen a p material and n material are joined , very near to junction few electron frm n type n few holes frm p type recombine formin ions on boh the sides of d junction.....

this forms a barrier......

hope u kno dis also...

Yes, I do. I'm not that dumb![2]

semi con likk silicon n germanium have 4 valence electron..........

dopin i.e addin impurity is done 2 increase conductivity.

its called p material if trivalent inmpurity is added
the maj carrier here is holes....

its called n material if pentavalent im is added..
electron is maj carrier here....

dopin is done to increase the no of electrons n holes...

i hope u kno all these things....
