Motivation

Today I was just watching the big bang on discovery science.
Somewhere deep inside, the motivation to study comes. I'll go study some 6 hours now. But the thing is that mostly till the next 4-5 days I'll never open any books. Then one day, I feel really guilty about not studying. So I come back and study.

I really dont know how others manage studies. I just thought it would really help me and others alike if we discussed ways to be motivated.

Apart from the actual discussions on the JEE syllabus, I think it would be better if we also devised ways to keep everyone motivated.

So, you can post how you study.

One very important thing...

which i relate to what shubhomoy has said and that is why disagree :D

See i used to do exactly what shubhomoy is doing.. loving the subjects... and therefore ignored chemistry more than anyone can ;)

Then at the end of it all realized that i din know any chemistry and my first attemp rank was a poor 4200... with no call...

Now what i did in the next year is made sure i was studying each subject and hence the time i used to measure took care of subjects as well...

and yeah i am a big fan of 3 idiots.. (though a couple of points here and there that i dont agree to entirely)

So dont think that I disagree to what shubhomoy has to say ...

i agree with shubmahoy
but i really want to get into iit
then, is studying 8 hrs a day necessary
once upon a time in 10th, i was the topper.
today, i get only 70% in 12th

If you have read all the 15 posts then do you agree that each one of us are different and we need to motivate ourselves in our own way? The reason why some people are successful and others are not is SELF MOTIVATION. People who can figure out what motivates them and can act upon it are successful and the rest are not . Give it a thought and let me know whether you agree or not

subhomoy has crashed on a harsh truth ...... what was not meant to be for the lot .... is now meant to be for the herd.....and you know why I say that...'cause I'm in the herd !

when u hav ur goal perfectly set in ur mind

the motivation will come naturally

distractions r there but the main AIM is what one needs to ponder about!!!

see sandeep.. this is something that happens with a lot of people..

The thing is that you have to set targets for every week... (i dont think setting targets for every day is quite that efficient..)

still i used to do exactly what you are writiing..

to get rid of this, i would generally have a diary where i would note down the time that i studied every day....

Trust me that would rarely go beyond 3 hrs on an average fora month!!

The time was noted using a clock that i would stop if i was not on my study table...

It kept me aware of how little i was studying (ofcourse dont include tuitions and schools in it!)

shall i say something?

donno but i do no agree with what nishant bhaiya said in last to last to last to last to last post :P i mean #2..

actually i had tried that procedure and what i got in return is FRUSTRATION that i am not studying...:(

this frustration did not catalyse my studies but rather inhibited them...the tension that gnawed into me always stopped my studying somehow...

the thought that "I WILL NOT GET INTO IITs!"

I hope nishant bhaiya still remembers the mail i wrote to him saying " initially i liked to study but now i HATE to study. "

luckily, even before nishant bhaiya replied that mail, i had got the answer by just typing the mail....

i just realised..initially I LIKED to study but now i HATE to do it...

and this HATRED was the culprit which was stopping me from studying...

somehow i HAD to LOVE to study again...

and now that i am successful in achieving that i can say thatn to all...

IIT syllabus would never allow me to LOVE studies, IIT format trequires speed than knowledge and u have to be machnes not scientists to crack into IIT ...(not all though)

what i did was shunned all the IIT books...

i had no tuitions ...

and i brought some good books like Morrison Boyd, Ressnick an etc and that helped me..

have reached school..gtg..will write later..bye

@ Nishant Sir thanks for giving the tip
@ Sandeep thanks for starting this thread

@ Sanchit make a timetable so that you can give equal time to every subject & don't end up doing only the subjects that you like since chemistry is equally important to crack JEE.
