Valentines Day!!

hey why is no one celebrating on this I know many of us are non valentines but the day is a good one and we all love someone or the other in our hearts [8] so CHEERS I start this on a pure note with the reason for celebrating this day.........

"
A Basic History of Valentine's Day

A Catholic priest named Valentine lived in the third century, and was
killed in Rome during the Christian persecutions. He was made a saint later,
and his saints' day was declared Feb. 14. Saint Valentine may have been named
the patron saint of love because of legends surrounding him. People began
celebrating St. Valentine's Day as a day for lovers in about the fourteenth century.

Around 1500, people began making paper valentines, and by 1800, hand-painted
copper plates were produced to meet the high demand.
Today, many thousands of valentines are produced each year.
Cupid comes from a different source, he was a Roman god. He was the god of love,
in all its forms; he was the counterpart of the Greek god Eros.
Cupid was the son of Mercury and Venus and was usually portrayed as a chubby,
winged infant who caused people to fall in love by shooting them with arrows.

Valentine's Day is mentioned ruefully by Ophelia in Hamlet (1600-1601):

To-morrow is Saint Valentine's day,
All in the morning betime,
And I a maid at your window,
To be your Valentine.
Then up he rose, and donn'd his clothes,
And dupp'd the chamber-door;
Let in the maid, that out a maid
Never departed more.
(William Shakespeare, Hamlet, Act IV, Scene 5)

This one's a god one for the occasion.

SONNET 116
Let me not to the marriage of true minds
Admit impediments. Love is not love
Which alters when it alteration finds,
Or bends with the remover to remove:
O no! it is an ever-fixed mark
That looks on tempests and is never shaken;
It is the star to every wandering bark,
Whose worth's unknown, although his height be taken.
Love's not Time's fool, though rosy lips and cheeks
Within his bending sickle's compass come:
Love alters not with his brief hours and weeks,
But bears it out even to the edge of doom.
If this be error and upon me proved,
I never writ, nor no man ever loved.
