06-05-09 Find the area...

The image above is a koch Snowflake starting with a equilateral triangle of side 1 unit

Step One.
Start with a large equilateral triangle.
Step Two.
Make a Star.

1. Divide one side of the triangle into three equal parts and remove the middle section.

2. Replace it with two lines the same length as the section you removed.

3. Do this to all three sides of the triangle.

Do it again and again.
Do it infinitely many times and you have a fractal.

What is the area of the limiting figure...

its given in the link that after first iteration the total area of three triangle added becomes 1/3 of bigger 1

but i think its 1/9 becoz

and so on and so area becomes

here s=1.

actually i dint read dat link given by nishant bhaiya initially and thought the same was explained there but later it seemed wrong to me so posted it again.....sorry cudnt elaborate as earlier post(guess dat was better):)
