In the diagram below, The ball hits the billiards table and returns back in the same direction.

If the angle of hitting the wall is θ from the vertical. Find the minimum coefficient of friction between the wall and the ball.

Given coefficient of restitution is "e"

assume initial velocity if needed :)

when i was giving this question.. i was thinking of ur statement about mu and tan theta :)

Yeah they r always tanθ....But i know sumtimes it can betray any one...

actually here what i thought that only direction has to reversed then e will not affect as speed can change...

and for an extreme case when theta=pi/2 no mu can do that so then came the one and only tanθ capturing every real no and giving just the right hint for pi/2........

I just returned frm school and saw the question.
I also calclated tan θ and then i read your answer and manishsh's comment. I was also a little confused.
