3-11-09 Path of the Electron

What is the path of an electron if the magnetic filed is shown as in the image.

The field is outward and has values B and 2B on either sides of the line.
The region is infinite on both sides....

Trace the shape of the path of the electron....

sir if we assume the electron entering the field 2B at angle @ then when it cums out it will be deviated by an angle 2pi-2@.....wont it???

but there is a field on both sides..

i am not looking at just that much :P

When it enters from B to 2B, the electron will trace a circle of a radius R/2 (R is the radius of the circle traced by the electron when in magnetic field B). As it leaves the magnetic field 2B it again trace the circle of radius R.
Am I totally wrong?? :D

Bigger radius in 2B field and smaller radius in B field...

Looks like a side-section view of an eye!

Excuse me for that edged part while re-entering the field...it wouldn't be bulging. :)
