Find the center of mass.

(this question is taken(as is) from a book meriam kraige which all these fiitjee and other ppl use to LIFT their quesitons from)

Do not read this book. I will make sure you guys get all the questions that are relevant for your standard are posted on the forum.. Many many things in this book are not for JEE!

What i did is found COM of the 2d fig removed quarter circle frm square....

and revolving this around z axis can produce the given solid structure

Take a poitn at (0,0) adn take another point at (1,1)

rotate this 2 point body along the axis as u just did..

what you will get is a point at origin adn a cirle of radius 1.

do you think their z axis of CM will be still z=1/2??

I know what is the problem with the solution.. but it will be good if you can reason it out yourself

but not to take away anything from your thought process...(good try..)
