hey, what my theory to understand a concept 100 % is that, when u r reading anthing for 1st time, or even if solving any numerical..dont juzz go by the bookish method, try out your own...think different..try doing the same thing by your own method...by this way, u will make ur brain exercise..., and also, there is less chance of forgetting things if ur method works out...and try to have written practice instead of juzz orally doin things...(what mistake i commited for physics...[2])

a very nice thread........... extremely helpful..... n everybody here is with his or own personal n unique advices ..........
well as a matter of advices n tips ..... with my own experience i wuld say..... NeVeR n EvEr waiste ur 11th class ( as u r an iit aspirant) yup many times there will b thaught like "yaar abhi bahut time hai ho jayega" or "puri 12th baaki hai yaar " n many more thaughts like this will appear in ur mind but remember there is no more time even both 11th n 12th classes r less 4 prep in these 2 years u have 2 put ur extra efforts as u have 2 do jee prep + boards prep

n yeah u need 2 prepare a proper strategy 4 ur prep ( n as eureka, varun n priyam said everybody have his or her own way of studing so everybodies strategy wuld b unique in his or her own way) so that u can devide ur quality studing time propely 4 both boards n jee prep

as a matter of sleep only spend 6 hrs 4 that (n i dont think i need 2 elaborate more on this topic as it is already mentioned above by my future iitians friends) study in isolated places with no disturbance this will help u 2 concentrate more on ur topics n will keep u away 4m distractions (what i use do is (not always but sometimes) study when everybody sleeps n sleep when everybody is awake)
do not avoid ncert books they r really very helpful n make basics concepts clear do
take 10 - 10 minutes break in b/w while studing so that ur interest dont end up

also try not 2 spend more time on comp n tv atleast not more than an hour ( 4 more info refer 2 #19 post)

rest make a timetable n enjoy ur studies after completing the target of the day enjoy t day n then no need 2 study .... but make sure what u do shuld we properly done (with extreme concentration) ALL T BEST 4 UR PREP

Don't have many books for a single subject.....
Select any 2 books for each and try completing it first then go for other books.....
I've seen many people who go on collecting books rather than studying and ultimately become confused of using one......
They think of taking references from every single book which i think is simply a time waste and no profit put of it.....
Also selection of books are too crucial....
NCERT shud be surely done..........

my greatest advice to all wud be

dont spend time in computer wether u r in orkut or targetiit more than 1 hour a day .

even the 1 hr u r spending in internet shud include more than 45 min of targetiit only .

take my advice seriously
u can learn xtra tips and stenghten imp concepts here but u cant learn chemical eq and mathematical formulae only by sitting with ur books

also too much on comp spoils ur health

try to play outdoor games for 1 hr .

hmmm one dbt varun u r saying to go to school in class 11 but doesnt everyone go to school in class 11 and 12 ??????

hey! not only juniors..........it may help even ur other friends.........

1
varun pandey ·

guys opinions are like wrist watches...each person's watch shows a different time...but each one of them is sure that their'r is the correct time

guys u are goin to hear a myriad of tips and trics and what not what not......lemme add another one to the bank

for those who are in class 11

DON'T WASTE CLASS 11.......ENJOY BUT DO STUDY HARD...IF U STUDY HARD IN 11 UR CHANCES OF CLEARING JEE WILL DEFINITELY INCREASE

GO TO SCHOOL IN CLASS 11.....it is strange but yea u should go to school in class 11

study hard at home....and then when you go in the school....your school time will act as an exhaust fan for all your stress.....then you will see the real fun that maths, physics and chemistry is....

1
skygirl ·

arey haan it depends....

mere ek frend hai.... he used to sleep for 3 hrs...

i mean he never sleeps more than dat!!

strange but true..

24
eureka123 ·

it depends person to person as said by priyam in post#5......and i never wrote in my post to take tension or not to remain cool or to sleep only 3 hrs just before exam......

i only said that u should control ur sleeping time in 11th as well to avoid teh pressure of 12th..........6.5 to 7 hrs would be good time....[1][1]

11
Mani Pal Singh ·

i could tell u my story regarding sleeping less

I WAS IN 11 AND THERE WAS A TEST OF COORDINATE GEOMETRY ON SUNDAY
I SLEPT FOR ONLY 3-4 HOURS IN THE EVENING AND DIDNT ATTENDED MY MASSI AND MY COUSIN WHO CAME ONLY FOR THAT EVENING

I WAS DESPERATE TO GET GOOD MARKS
SO I STUDIED THE WHOLE NIGHT

BUT THAT TEST WAS MY WORST PERFORMANCE EVER

SO FROM THAT DAY I DECIDED TO REMAIN COOL AND PREPARE WITHOUT ANY OVERWORK

IN THE NEXT TST I TOPPED [4]

24
eureka123 ·

he he ......add this statement in my post too on priyam request....

8)Defragment ur mind by sleeping upto 10hrs on Sunday to keep urself fresh.....

33
Abhishek Priyam ·

Eureka:Dont oversleep in 11th class ......I used to sleep 8hrs in 11th ....and now i sleep for 3-4 hrs only..

galat baat.. always sleep 8-9 hrs...(jada dar lage to make it 7-8, amin to 9 se kam kabhi nahi sota..) no matter what the sitaution is... because it never helps... agar nind ak time se samjhota karoge... to ghata hi hoga...

while sleeping brain defragments ur learning just like hardiskk and helps managing what u did and learnt... :)

24
eureka123 ·

What is left for me to say?????I can only count my own mistakes....
1) Dont relax till boards result are out giving reason that u worked hard for 1 full year and that u need some rest...........U HAVE TO GRILL YOURSELF FOR TWO YEARS.........SO TAKE AN EARLY LEAD.
2)Dont concentrate only on ur favourite subjects like I did to Physics and Maths...
3)Dont oversleep in 11th class ......I used to sleep 8hrs in 11th ....and now i sleep for 3-4 hrs only..
4)Dont ignore NCERT books.......I ignored it in 11th and most of 12th....Now I read them and found that they are very useful..
5)Dont read absurd books like Irodov,OP Tondon,Thomas Finney etc....Read good and classic books like Resnick,University Physics,Hall and Knight,IA Maron,Morrison(some portions to be excluded) and not to forget DC Pandey
6)Try to do solved examples first to get into problem solving mood.....Going straightaway into toughies will never help........
7)Always innovate........preparation for JEE is R&D....u need to develop newer techniques to tackle the exam

Most important::
JEE is a marathon........It doesnt matter whether u start early or late but u have to be consistent enough to succeed....Maybe u do very well early on but then later u may lose ur concentration and fall behind in the race......Concentrate ur goal and have a burning desire to achieve it.
Always remember ""People with some cause are very hard to beat""Always have a reason that why u wont to succeed in JEE....

In the end final say.....FATE IS FATE.....if u have IITian tag in ur luck u will get it ,other wise even a leaked paper wont get u there.....

KEEP WORKING HARD.............BEST OF LUCK...[1][1][1]

If a body undergoing projectile motion bursts in air, its center of mass completes the whole trajectory.

The strongest form of law of conservation of energy is
(delta K.E.) + (delta U) + (delta E )non-mechanical implicit + (delta Enon-mech. explicit=0

The introduction of Pseudo force justifies Newton's first and second laws of motion, but the third law gets violated since the reaction force is unconceivable due to the fact that pseudo force has no specific origin.

Hope it helped you'll!!!

When a body rolling on a rough surface enters a frictionless surface, we might think that rolling wouldnt continue, but during rolling as the point of contact is at rest, it would continue rolling.

In work and energy probs, make max possible use of work KE theorem and avoide using conservation of mechanical energy unless necessary.

For finding the direction of friction in case of pure rolling, dont use ur intuituon, but try to use the formula,
f =F(mrx-Ic.m.)/(Ic.m.+mr2),
x=dist frm center at which force is applied, r= radius of the rolling body.

Location of Instantaneous axis of rotation is independent of reference frame. and I.A.R. si always parallel to direction of angular velocity.

I hope this helps.
If i can recollect some more common mistake n suggestions, i'll definitely post.

well... do not compromise with 'neend' .... atleats 9 hs or 10.

Subash ·

Dont neglect chemistry just because it does not seem to be as interesting as maths or physics

remember that in jee weightage would be equal for all three subjects

keep in touch with all three

n as priyam said keep your style of looking at things be logical and dont be satisfied by anything (particularly marks)

there is always scope for improvement if u keep giving ur full it would be fine

33
Abhishek Priyam ·

Apna.. alga style rakhna chahiye hamesa padhne ka... koi aur kaise, kitna, kab, kya padhta hai.. usse koi matlab nahi hona chahiye... what worked for one maynot work for other...

mistakes jo nahi karna chahiye...

* Never solve any topic because u are enjoying that...(specially in 12th.. u can do that in 11th..).. be proffesional in ur approach.
* Jo ban raha hai usko banate rahne se ki fayda nahi...
* Never ask question to anyone unless u have tried that for entire day..(of course when u feel that topic is in syllabus..)because when u ask any question that is helpful only for that question.. not for other questions... and same q is never asked again in IIT....

And hamesa sirf apne par bharosa rakhna chahiye...

aur khud jo man kare wahi karo... aur kuch nahi....

Nice Thread Sindhu.[1][1][1].....Well Always Stick Basic to Ncert.......(my Suggestion) and if u want a deep study then have a path through the books given by Manipal which i think are excellent in the Selected Areas he has given..........i suggest NCERT becaz evry other questions in other Guides r derived ones from NCERT TEXT.........for studying Chemistry be Thorough with "Intext Questions"........for Maths have a thorough study of Basic Formulas ....which can be used for deriving other tought formulas (thats wat i do in Exam Halls)........
