I can solve this using a non co-ordinate geometry approach
But a class approach.
Give me 5 minutes to do the calculations and if my ans is correct i will post the soln

Well I think some data is missing....This is why I say so....
Observe that locus of P is a circle with AB as diameter....So can u say the dist of P from O will be const. ?

i do not think so
It will be a circle with radius PO. i think so

I got the locus from the fact that angle in a semi-circle is 90 deg.....so that means it is a circle with AB as dia....

See it is a right angled triangle therefore AB is the diameter of the circle around only that chord if u shift the chord then wat?

Sorry to tell u that but the the radius is 5/√2 if i am not mistaken
x2+y2=25/2
r2=25/2
r = 5/√2

See PAB is a right angled triangles
Now Find the perpendicular distance between P and AB then Perpendicular distance of O to AB.

Then

We know a and b
Then we can find the distance between the two perpendicular lines drawn let it be c
The 2 angles which i have made are equal therefere we can find the two lenghts in to which c is cut by PO then using pythagoras we can find PO

The approach is a non co-ordinate geometry one but faster
