11STANDARD EQUATION OF HYPERBOLA
IS
X2/A2-Y2/B2=1
AND RECTANGULAR HYPERBOLA IS
X2-Y2=A2
BUT IN CASE IT IS STANDARD WE USE
XY=C2
if we get in exams a question involving rectangular hyperbola..........which form should we use?????
x2-y2=a2 or xy=c2
though calculation is easier using 2nd equation.......but still had a doubt that would the answeer change if we would use other form [7][7][7]

62if there is any proof use the 2nd one
if a question is given where a vlue is needed in length use whichever seems easier
if you have to find the coordinate of a point the form will be given already .. so dont worry much :)

The fact is both are equally admissible..
if it is not given and you have to find some coordinate then take one form and find the answer and if it matches tick it..
otherwise try the other form
but rest assured nothing of this type will ever happen
24i was wooried becoz it is options game........options have to match.........
so if my answer doesnt match then i transform the eqn by rotating the axis????????
