the points u have given r not equidist from the line u have given as ans.plz see

Putting (1,-2)

1+2-1=2

3-4-1=-2

Since we take mode and √2 cancels they are equidistant dear..You check it once ;D

since it is equally inclined so the angles made by it with x axis is +45 or -45.
so eq is x+y=a or x-y=a
the pts. are (1,-2) and (3,4).
so slope of line joining these two points are 62
so this line is not parallel to the required line.
now if the pts. are to be equidistant from the line then they can lie on same side of line or different sides.if same sides then they have to lie on a line parallel to the required line.this is not. so they are on opposite sides of line.
now the mid point of the line joining these two points must lie on the line by congruency.
mid point is (2,1)
applying on the equqtions we get the lines as
x-y-1=0
& x+y-3=0
you can check out that the distances r equal or not.
