The effective resistance between points if resistances are as shown and ring is resistance less will be

(a) 7R/6

(b) 11R / 38

After a very tiring soln....the ans seems to come very close to (b)....but not exactly..b...like...7R38..must be some calc mistake

Yes its coming to be 11R/38

Just cut the figure by a line passing through A and B and solve it

wat i did was to find all pts havin same potential...
[done by drawing lines of symmtery across da fig].
den simplified it...by plottin all equipot. pts....

what i feel the mistake u guyz ve don is dat u .missed the fact dat ..the ring is also da current n more importantly..its "RESISTANCE LESS"....PROBABLY.. its da eror....

admins plz...take note of this q....

From symmetry we can cut in two parts which are in parallel to each other.

Also there will be no current in EF branch, because of symmetry.

So reducing the circuit to half we can find the resistance of the half circuit which is 11R/19

So the full circuit will be 11R/38
