velocity of ship wrt dolphin=(10-5)=5m/s
distance for which it will be visible=50-30+length of ship
=50-30+70
=90m
time taken to cover 90m@5m/s=90/5=18s
dolphin will be visible for 18 seconds
A ship travelling at 10m/s. A dolphin at 5 m/s along a line parallel to that of the ship and at a distance of 30m from it. The visibility is 50 m.Find the maximum time for which the dolphin will be visible from the ship. The ship is 70m long
velocity of ship wrt dolphin=(10-5)=5m/s
distance for which it will be visible=50-30+length of ship
=50-30+70
=90m
time taken to cover 90m@5m/s=90/5=18s
dolphin will be visible for 18 seconds
i know d answer is 60 seconds....but i dont know d exact solution ..;plz help
The dolphin will be visible for a relative distance of 40+40+70 meters..
40 comes from the visibility factor...
70 is the length of the ship (orange)
use pythagoras to get 40 on both sides....
The black line has a length of 70+80=150
relative speed is 5
so the time will be 150/5 = 30 seconds
