9)c
for perfectly elastic body e=0 hence y is infinte

but for perfectly inelastic body y=0

9.Youngs modulus for perfectly inelastic body:
a)finite b)1 c)0 d)∞
ans given 0,but me gettin ∞ plz verify
10.A satellite is orbiting close to a planet.its time period depends only on:

>C=O includes ketonic as well as aldehydic grp so. (c) is most accurate

Avinav Prakash ·

@manmay
in that case glucose has -CHO AND -OH groups....so (c) is also wrong

1
Manmay kumar Mohanty ·

but wat abt the case of fructose that doesn't have CHO, it has >C=O and -OH
so in general case carbohydrate have >C=O and -OH group, hence (c) is correct

Specific gravity 1 implies the solid's density is 1 x density of water = 1000 kg/m3
Mass = 5 x 10-3 kg

Volume = Mass/Density = 10005 x 10-3
= 200 x 103 = 2 x 105 m3

Forgot the concept of a common balance. haha..

Me adding a Qn too... EEE09,

8)The two functional groups present in a typical carbohydrate are :
(a) – OH and – COOH (b) – CHO and – COOH
(c) > C = O and – OH (d) – OH and – CHO

Ans's given only (c)... both (c) & (d) are rite but...?

Ya avik.u r right.got the same ans from govind as well.

Anand,
I know u know all this, but do read it

wht u are saying as "Decrease in Vapour Pressur" is actually u mean this---

ΔVP = VP(when only hexane) - VP(after adding ethanol to initial)

Agreed, ki V Pr. mein decrease aayegaa....but DEviation is on a different note.

MAtlab agar v hav a sol.n of hexane n ethanol, whtever be their resp. quantities,,,,
We expect a ..

Net VP = Σ(moleFrac)*(resp Absolute VP)
But v dont get tht,
Experimental VP > Net expected VP => +ve Deviation.

This is deviation matlab....v can't say tht since Ethanol has reduced Hexane's VP frm its Absolute VP means it is -ve Deviation.... We can't use the term "-ve Deviation" in this context.

Oh yeah, i was thinking smthing wierd fr Q1... thnx there anand :)

Q7) 1st thing... No chance off association, so no -ve deviation.
Ideal sol.n tab hota hai jab there are milte-julte sol.n(s)... like C2H5Cl & C2H5Br; or a bit close Mol. wt.(s)

So, it has to be +ve Deviation.
(I know there was an absurd sort of option 4, where they say C2H5OH will have -ve & hexane +ve deviation; smthing like tht, but deviation is not 2b defined fr a single entity, it is a concept fr a mixture of volatile solutions.)

7.a binary liq soln is prep by mixin n-heptane and ethanol.now is there any way to find out whether the soln wil be ideal or+ve deviation or -ve deviation wil b shown by it?q of this type came in aieee 2009

let weight of particle w,tension in thread be T,buoyant be B
T+B=w -----> B=w-T........but B=w----->T=0

for water in beaker N(initial)[without solid]=W
N(final)=B+W=B+w-T=w clearly W>w so N(inital)>N(final) so pan shud move up.

hence A is correct!
