1a, 2a, grps

the metals K and Mg both forms oxide but nly Mg forms nitride , when both burn in air ?..why??

2) is the solubility in 1a grp increases and in 2a grp decreases???if so y??

1) It because Magnesium has characters similar to Li...(Diagonal Relationship)..It can be explained thus

1) It is so because K has a valency of 1 and it cannot form an ion that is compatible with the nitride ion.
