1.A particle of mass m1 collides elastically with a stationary particles of mass m2 (m1>m2). Find the maximum angle through which the striking particle may deviate as a result of collision.
2. A shell flying with velocity u burst into three identical fragments so that the kinetic energy of the system increases by n times. What maximum velocity can one of the fragment obtain.

well solving the equations that i have got will kill me !!!!!

neways my method:

1)

m1v1sinα=m2v2sinβ

m1v=m1v1cosα+m2v2cosβ

e=(v1sinα+v2sinβ)2+(v1cosα-v2cosβ)2v

and e=1

we have to maximise α for various values of β

ans 1 - sin(theta) = m2/m1
2 - highest velocity is 2u
