Elevators

You gotta hate em. Especially when you get problems like these.

well these problems r elementary....

in the formula for time period of simple pendulum...replace g by geff

which in this case is g-g/3=2g/3....

u get geff by adding pseudo force.....

a Q for practice....wat if the elevators is going in horizontal direction wit accleration g/3....

Hint: add pseudo force vectorially geff=√g^2+(g/3)^2

reduced acceleration due to gravity-g'=g-g/3.

or,g'=2g/3.

put this in formula for time period......

time period of a pendulam is given by 2pi√l/geff
. Here the effective g is g-a as the elevator is going downwards.
So time period will be 2pi√3l/2g

rickde mere bhai, I suck at physics. So bear with me. I just needed to know how to put the value in the formula...now I remember it is geff. main toh string ka tension aur pata nahi kya nikaal raha tha...
