Use the fact that the velocity of A relative to O is along the tangential direction.

using energy conservation!

2mgR(1+cos@) = mv2+mu2+Mu2

using momentum conservation along horizontal direction,
m(vcos@-u)+M(-u)=0

using the above two we get the relation for u!

what u took as v is my v+u

so tangential velocity in ur case is v-u

the |vx|=|v-u|cos@ - u
