TWO STONES ARE PROJECTED FROM A POINT P IN THE SAME DIRECTION WITH A VELOCITY OF 20m/s ONE AT ANGLE α ABOVE THE HORIZONTAL AND THE OTHER AT AN ANGLE α TO THE VERTICAL.FIND THE DISTANCE OF EACH STONE FROM P 1 SECOND AFTER PROJECTION AND THE DISTANCE THE STONES ARE APART.(COSα=4/5,SINα=3/5).

1 second later

1st body:

u cos @ t, u sin @t - 1/2 gt2

2nd body:

u sin @ t, u cos @t - 1/2 gt2

substitute t=1 to get the vlaues

Distance between the two bodies is

2 u (cos@ - sin@) t = 4√2

BHAIYA,YOU HAVE GIVEN THE EXPRESSION FOR HORIZONTAL AND VERTICAL DISTANCES INDIVIDUALLY BUT IT IS NOT SO,READ THE QUESTION AGAIN,AND HOW DID YOU ARRIVE ON THE EXPRESSION OF DISTANCE BETWEEN THE TWO BODIES??

well it is

u (cos@ - sin@) t and -√2 u (cos@ - sin@) t

in x and y direction respectively

thus the resultant will be root 2 times each!
