MORE THAN 1 RIGHT - ROLLING!

a solid cylinder of mass M is rolled horizontally on a rough surface with a force F acting on centre of mass (actually there is a diag but has just a cylinder horizontally rolling and F is acting towards right from centre.Then

a) accn of COM is F/M

b)accn of COM is F2M

c) the force of friction acts backward on the cylinder

d) magnitude of force of friction is F3

note F acts towards right>

The answer shud be C and D
let fr be the frictional force..
draw the fbd and u will notice that fr is acting backwards..
F - fr = Ma balancing of forces
fr.R = MR2α/ 2 torque eqn
fr = Ma/2 since pure rolling so a = Rα
F = 3Ma/2
acceleration of centre of mass = 2F/3M
