Relative velocity

A plateau is in the shape of a trapezium with the upper surface horizontal and the side surfaces at 60° & 30° to the horizontal.A man walks up the steeper slope at 6 m/s then along the upper surface and then down the incline. To the man,the rain appears to fall vertically along the first two parts of the motion and parallel to his motion along thethird part. the actual speed of rain in m/s is??

i dont know why but it has always me difficult for me to visualise these types of problem so lets just solve it from vector algebra
let the vel of the rain be ai-bj takin vel in upward direction to be +ve
and the vel of the man for the steeper slope

is 3i+3root3j
so vel with respect to the man
(3-a)i+J(3√3+b)

since vel in horizontal direction is 0 the rains vel in this direction is 3

for the next 2 parts u can proceed the same way.....!!!! i will also post the graphical way if u want......
