Rotation

A particle is confined to rotate in a circular path with decresing linear speed.Then,which of the following is correct?
(A)L vector(angular momentum) is conserved about the centre
(B)only direction of angular momentum is conserved
(C)it spirals towards the centre
(D)its acceleration is towards the centre
The correct answer given in my book is option(B).This question came in IITJEE 2005.You can see clearly that direction of angular momentum is opposite to each other at the points which are diametrically opposite to each other.You can check it by rxp.So I think that the question given is wrong.Please tell me how can direction of the angular momentum be constant.If I am wrong then tell where I am wrong.Please explain it in detail.

L= m(r x v)

Direction of (r x v), hence the direction of angular momentum remains the same.

So the correct option is (b)
