IF I TAKE MY REFERENCE AS OUTSIDE SHOULD I CONSIDER PSEUDO FORCE??

oh sorry thought it waz a sphere ........

But in the FBD for the wedge Ma2 acts in the forward direction..

3
iitimcomin ·

yes that is the psudo force yaar!!!!!!!!!!which is y im doing summation Fx and Fy = 0 ..........
REREAD PSUDO FORCE CHAPTER!!!!!!!!!!!

chinmay ·

But why ma1 backward??
I seriously don't understand .
Kindly Explain!!

3
iitimcomin ·

YAAR A1 IS FORWARD BUT I AM TAKIN MY FRAME OF REFERENCE INSIDE THE CYLINDER!!!!!!!!!!!!!SO ITS BACKWARD..............EG... IF I SIT IN A BUS ACCN. FORWARD I FEEL FORCE IN BACKWARD DIRECTION!!!!!!!!!!

iitimcomin ·

IS IT 15(B)....CHECK I WUD HAV MADE MISTAKES IN SOLVIN EQXNS... I ALWAYS DO THAT!!!!

1
chinmay ·

yes U r right..

1
chinmay ·

will it be wrong ,If I assume a1 forward.

3
iitimcomin ·

DEPENDS ON UR FRAME OF REFERENCE........ IVE TAKEN THE FRAME OF REFERENCE AS INSIDE THE CYLINDER .......... SO ITS BACKWARD .... IF I TAKE MY FRAME OF REFERNCE AS OUTSIDE THE SYSTEM ITS FORWARD AS U SAID!!!!!!!SORRY IF I CONFUSED U WITH PSUDO FORCE....... ITS JUST THAT U CAN SOLVE IT EASILY!!!!!!!!!!

3
iitimcomin ·

backward direction which is y the psedo force is in the forward dirction!!!!!!!!!

3
iitimcomin ·

THEN THERES NO NEED........BUT IT MAKES IT LITTLE MORE COMPLICATED TO SOLVE

YES, I UNDERSTAND.THANKS AND SORRY

HEY Y AR U SORRY!!!!!!!DONT BE!!!!

IF I TAKE MY REFERENCE AS OUTSIDE SHOULD I CONSIDER PSEUDO FORCE??

For that.. (i personally hate pseudo force...theres many real forces so why introduce a new one... :P)

@iitcomin,
do u need the 4th eqn??

1
chinmay ·

u there?

33
Abhishek Priyam ·

theres no need... its only for reaction from ground...

1
chinmay ·

@ priyam
How did u get that constraint eqn.

33
Abhishek Priyam ·

acceleration of cylinder and incline perpendicular to plane is same... (1st constraint equation..)

2nd constraint eqn for no slipping..

1
chinmay ·

see what's wrong with what I did.

1
chinmay ·

It's not fixed

39
Dr.House ·

he gave wedge is placed on a smooth horizontal floor. so its not fixed............

1
chinmay ·

I'll post what I did.
but not getting the final answer that the book has got..

Why is the direction of Ma1 backward

39
Dr.House ·

because ma2 is rightward.

1
chinmay ·

are u telling that the cylinder goes up,
The wedge has an acceleration to the left because the cylinder is movind down.
