Can transverse (material)wave travel in air.. why/why not

Yes it can abhi.........if not we would be bumping in to each other, unable 2 see anything.......cos light is a transverse wave.

light doesn't require medium..

since propogation of the wave depends on the oscilation of particles (?), material waves do require a medium to propogate (?)

maybe because the "material" is too loosely bound in this case....
