today my sir took a lecture on quantum mechanics , and he told us an amazing thing , which i would like to share with the young enthusiastic brains here

The particle theory of light failed to explain the phenomenon like diffraction , where the wave theory had phenomenal success ....

But wait a minute , here goes the quantum mechanical explanation

consider a photon passing through the
slit of thickness y , as soon as it passes through the slit the there comes an uncertainty in its y cordinate , so comes an uncertainty in its y component of momentum ....(uncertainty principle)...so the photons gain a component of momentum and give the diffraction pattern

quantum calculations are in exact accordance in what is told by the wave mechanics ....
