bases abstract hydrogens and nucleophiles attack carbons (electrophiles)
all nucleophiles are bases, but not all bases can act as nucleophiles.
Anurag Ghosh Can we say dat bases abstract hydrogens from outside because they are bulky????...whereas nucleophiles go and attack at the target site....Upvote·0· Reply ·2013-07-15 05:41:27 Anurag Ghosh Can we say dat bases abstract hydrogens from outside because they are bulky????...whereas nucleophiles go and attack at the target site....Upvote·0· Reply ·2013-07-15 05:41:27
Swarna Kamal Dhyawala its not necessary that if bases are bulky then only it will abstract hydrogen even strong bases abstract hydrogen ...instead bulky nucleophile acts as a base and abstracts hydrogen Swarna Kamal Dhyawala its not necessary that if bases are bulky then only it will abstract hydrogen even strong bases abstract hydrogen ...instead bulky nucleophile acts as a base and abstracts hydrogen
Anurag Ghosh Means it is actually a bulky nucleophile dat acts as a base and abstracts hydrogen from outside???.....Is it always dat bases abstract hydrogen or there are cases where they attack too??? Swarna Kamal Dhyawala usually weak bases attack but if temperature is provided then elimination occurs ........... Swarna Kamal Dhyawala usually weak bases attack but if temperature is provided then elimination occurs ...........
