Electronegativity of C & O in carbon-monoxide suggests it to be polar. But in reality it is not so. Why?

in C≡O u got carbon on d one side n more electro-negative oxygen on d other, so there's a dipole moment in d direction of oxygen .....
dat's y C≡O is polar.......

as the tetra valent C is nt satisfied by the bivalent O a net dipole moment occurs in the compound which causes it 2 b polar in nature

carbon n oxygen have a triple bond in CO .. n oxygen is more electronegative than carbon... it is a polar compound!!

The electro-negativity of oxygen cancels out the dipole created by electron donation by co-ordinate bond. So it is not so much polar.

CO is non polar in nature!!! sorry!! carbon is more electro positive hence CO has a dipole moment from C to O while O, which has a pair of lone pair left produces a dipole moment towards C.Hence they both cancel each other and CO is non polar
