crystals

i just could not understand the formation of crystals. the unit cube of CsCl is made of one Cs at the centre with eight Cl around it. our teacher explained it that the Cl atoms at the corners are shared and so the net no. of Cl in the cube is 1.

my doubt is how the cube is formed? is the edges made of bonds?? if yes how can there be a bond between Cl atoms??

if no, what binds them????

its the electrostatic force btw the Cs and Cl ions which binds them...and the shape of a unit crystal of the CsCl molecule is in the form of a cube,if we join the centres of the Cl atoms....actually the Cl atoms touch each other but we represent it as a cube by joining the centres for our understanding....
