I think the equivalent is 25 g but molecular weight cannot be found

It is based on the definition of equivalent weight which says that "the equivalent weight of a metal is the weight of metal which combines with 8 g of oxygen".
75 g of metal combines with 24 g of oxygen
so wt. of metal which combines with 8 g of oxygen is (75/24)*8=25
eq.wt. of metal is 25 g
As valency is not molecular weight can't be found.
Can anyone get the answer mathematically?
