How much ice will separate if a solution containing 25g of ethylene glycol[C2How much ice will separate if a solution containing 25g of ethylene glycol[C2H4(OH)2 in 100g of water is cooled to -10°C? Kf for water is 1.86

- After calculating the depression in fp , how do we have to calculate the amount of ice that will get separated?

just find the concentration of the solution.

based on that you can know the amount of solvent present in the solution.

subtract that amount from total amount given.

10=1.86*m
m=10/1.86=moles of solute/(wt. of solvent)

wt. of solvent=moles of solute*1.86/10=(25*1.86/620)=75 gm

ice separated out=100-75=25 gms
