1/6+5/6.1/6.0+(-1).5/6.5/6.1/6-3.5/6.5/6.5/6

=1/6-25/216-375/216

=-399/216

=-133/72

expected loss is 133/72

unless i have lost it when it comes to calculation mistakes :P

sir i can understand ur answer but my question is how his expected loss can be in fractions when he is dealing oly in multiples of 1. Doesn tat make our expected loss calculation impractical?

no dark knight..

your doubt is very genuine and good one...

See let us take a game where i lose 1 rupee or win 1 rupee with equal probability.

If i play a lot of games or even 1 game, The expecation is 1/2-1/2 = 0

but 0 will not be any of the outcomes.

Either i will win or lose...

So you should appreciate that the expected value might never be achieved

Another example.

Look at the average of a cricketer... 55.46 (That is his expected score)

But can a cricketer score fractional runs?
