would that be enough?

i could only find one root was positive and one negative and they are not equal(numerically) from the graph

wat do u exactly mean by "solv graficaly"

ankit mahapatra ·

post the graph.I meant by using the graph to find the roots.

Subash ·

for exact graph we should find the roots by some other method

which solves the problem( then why graphical)

thats a parabola. try to write in general for and u will get it.

In the answer the graph consists of a parabola and a straight line.
What are u getting as roots?
One would be negative and the other positive.

Ankit I dont see how to approach it graphically to get a "precise" answer

what we can do is something more qualitative..

shall i post the graph as given in the book.
By the way roots given in the book are : 0.21 and -0.93.

well what the author of book has done is he has taken two seperate equations:
y=25x2
and
y=-18x+5

Subash ·

yes he is trying to find the points of intersection

but for exact values how ??

Lokesh Verma ·

that is ok ankit.

but just by looking at the graph I am not sure how the author can find the roots

all we can say is some bound on the roots.

like there is one -ve on +ve root

etc etc..

took a bigger scale
