Is there any way of controlling radioactivity of an element apart from making an isotope with greater number of neutrons? If yes, what?

Its radioactive decay can never be stopped as according to decay-time curve the radioactive emissions can never end but can decrease their rate. So there is no way of controlling the radioactive nature of the substance apart from making a stable isotope. But the emissions can be avoided by covering the substance with lead.
