Spectrum question

I'm stuck up with another question.

Which part of the electromagnetic spectrum is used for :
1) Crystallography
2) Satellite communication

In each case , mention the reason for using the particular electromagnetic rays selected by you.

I'm stuck up with this question. I need the answer urgently as my exam is on Tuesday.

1) Crystallography - X-rays (as their wavelength is shorter than the distance between the two atoms in a crystal (its called lattice parameter..basically the distance between two layers of atoms)
2) Satellite communication - Various types of EMR are used. They are as follows:
a) visible light, used in optical fibres
b) infra-red, used as a laser beam and in thermal imaging
c) microwaves, for satellite communication and radar
d) radio waves, including AM radio band, FM radio band, and TV, which uses AM for the picture and FM for the sound.
