Why is a mirror not white in colour?

We say that something is white in colour because it reflects all the incident wavelengths...

Why is it that Mirror is not white? Because, even mirror reflects back all the incident colours!

I think a mirror reflects light in a coherent manner , that is, the light is reflected back from the mirror depending on how the light came in.

A mirror, reflects the blue and red light in the same direction, and so the mirror actually builds an image of the source of the light.

[ While other substances having colour , actually reflect it along with scattering , so each colour is not reflected in the same dxn..all in diff dxn depending on λ ]

i think it is related to the concept of d/f block element

difference is due to coherence and scattering...agreed with jsgenius

the answer is because of regular and irregular reflection...

Even a polished white surface acts as partial mirror.. (isnt it?)

Btw akash.. where did d/f block come in the theory for class ix-x? :P
