why electrostatic experiments not work well in humid days.
how can insulator get charged?

Water has its own polarity.. So it changes the "conductivity" of air..
it causes some charge set up in air as well!!!!! (Like a dielectric (non-conductor) does)

an in sulater can acquire charges only by induction.. either by bringin a charged body near it or by rubbbing wit suitable material...
