why is electricity produced when lightening occurs?

When two thunder clouds with opposite charges approach each other,the air inbetween them gets ionised(or its insulation breaks off bcoz of the strong electric field between the two clouds-hence,electrons move from the negative clouds 2 d positive clouds in order 2 discharge both the clouds.this results in d production of electricity.i hope tz d ryt ans....

Electrons flow between charged clouds or between negatively charged cloud and positively charged earth. Sir, please correct me if I am wrong.
