The number of electrons in an insulator is of the same order as the number of electrons in a conductor. What is the basic difference betw. them ??

Should we explain it wid the Forbidden Gap theory or is their any other ans ?

I think the main difference is the no of free elecs.Conductors have lots of them an oly they are capable of conducting. Insulators don have free elecs. So they do not conduct.
