find the electric force

a rod AB with A(a/2,0) and B(a/2+L,0) and another rod CD with C(-a/2,0) and D(-a/2-L,0) are placed on the x axis.Find the electric force between them

You didn't mention charges nor magnitude.

However, I guess that the Rod AB forms One Dipole while the ROD CD forms the other dipole and you need to find the electric force between them. If you able to do (try atleast 5/6 times) now, then let us know, else Me or someone will post the solution.

I am sorry.Both contain charge Q uniformly distributed on the surface.It will not form a dipole.
