r1 upar hai , r2 sidemein .. aur chain r2 se continue hota hai ...
let the resistance of chain be x ..
then r2*x/(r2 + x) =r1 sincevoltage drop across r1 and r2 is equal ....
also r2*x/(r2 + x) + r1 = x .. since it is an infinite chain
so
2* r2*x/(r2 + x) = x or 2*r2 = r2 + x
x = r2
r1 = r2/2

r1/r2 =1/2

i'll stick to my answer as .. r1 is alone and r2 in parallel combination with the chain .. so net resistance of r2 and the chain will decrease and become equal to the resistance r1 which is alone .... :)
